For my New Year’s first trip I went to Gran Canaria with my friends. The weather was just perfect, the average temperature was around 24C degrees. We stayed in Exe Las Canteras hotel in Las Palmas.
Positives: The staff was very nice and helpful. You can enjoy your breakfast with ocean view.
Negative: If you rent a car, as we did, don’t count on free parking in the hotel, they have only place for 4 cars and it’s always full.
What to do in Gran Canaria?
Good question for those who can’t stay all day long on the beach and want to enjoy more than a well tanned skin color. Here are some programs we had:
Buggy Cars tour:
Buggy Pirates offers you a fantastic service and experience to discover Gran Canaria. It allows you to cross roads, winding paths and driving through fantastic landscapes. You can choose between 50 or 90 km tours in groups. The only thing you need is a B Category driving licence and comfortable clothes.
The professionalism of the guide made me feel safe. Even when we went through the mountains which the horses didn’t quite appreciate. I also felt a bit sorry for them. My advice to choose horse riding on the beach.
Casa de Colon:
Christopher Columbus stayed in this charming house in 1492 while one of his ships was getting repaired. You can see part of his diary and follow his exploration of the New World.
Bufadero De La Garita- Telde:
Jardin Botanico Canario Viera y Clavijo:
The entrance is free. This amazing park contains 41 stops so better put sports shoes and safari hat. We passed hours by walking around and having a
pick-nick in this beautiful place.I had a feeling that I had found it! The Tree of Souls in the “Avatar” movie does exist in Gran Canaria natural park. 😍
This mind-blowing authentic sea of golden sand is directly connected to the endless Atlantic Ocean, which gives you a feeling of peace and lots of sand in your mouth and eyes. Advice: wear sunglasses 😎
You can’t go wrong here with the fish. It’s so fresh and tasty, you can choose the one what you would like to get prepared. Also you have to try “la Paella” it’s a typical Spanish rice dish. You must have some Sangria (red wine with chopped fruit and small amount of brandy) to go with it.
When you wake up middle of the night and everything is closed, playing Bingo will seem the only thing to do. It was my very first time and I really loved it the staff was super cool helping us with numbers, as we were from Italy, France & Hungary and the numbers were announced in Spanish.
It was an amazing journey with friends… with love, fun and sunshine. I’m very excited to share my new experience with you guys about my next journey to Miami.
